Shemeka Kim Peters, certified coach, professional speaker, published poet, career educator, and trainer is also the author of the Reaching Your Career Dreams advice blog and creator of the ACED• IT™ method approach to career planning. As a lifelong learner, Shemeka received her B.S. from Syracuse University, and studied personal and life coaching at New York University. She is currently pursuing her Masters of Science in Adult Education and Human Resource Development at Fordham University with a concentration in workforce development. Her accomplishments have earned her recognition from the Who’s Who among American Colleges and Universities and various organizations including the media. Her poem“Virtuous Woman” will be published in the anthology entitled Our Stories, Ourselves: The EmBODYment of Women's Literacy (WE LEARN, 2011). In addition, her article on vocational education in New York is published in the current issues of Perspectives: The New York Journal of Adult Learning.

Shemeka is especially well qualified to speak to career and professional development with firsthand knowledge and experience in the fast-paced New York City work-lifestyle and fashion industry. During her career as a technical fashion designer, she worked for high profile companies including Liz Claiborne, Polo Ralph Lauren, and Jones Apparel Group. 

Shemeka has been professionally known as "The Career Stylist" for some years due to her ability to help clients discover their career dreams, and develop a unique pathway for its successful attainment. Shemeka continues to exemplify the ability to design and reach her own dreams as the founder and CEO of Divine Vessels Empowerment, and writing her first book.

Shemeka volunteers in the community through her organization Divine Vessels Empowerment, providing career development workshops to various audiences from highly motivated teens to homeless adults. Her community involvement includes serving as a board member of the Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island Area Health Educational Center, Judges Chair of the Miss Brooklyn Scholarship Pageant, and a panelist on various event.

In fall of 2009, Shemeka was appointed Director of Public Relations for the Brooklyn Club of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club, Incorporated by the Brooklyn Club President, Barbara Biggs-Glover. Her professional affiliations also includes:  American Society of Trainers and Developers, American Association of Adult and Continuing Education, National Career Development Association.

In her spare time, Shemeka is a spoken word performing artist and has performed at the famous Nyurorican Poets Café and The Afrikan Poetry Theater.  As an active member of Toastmasters International, she placed second in her 2008 Club and Area Evaluation Speech Contest later to compete in the division contest.
